We will be targeting visitors of all ages with our extensive advertising program. Job Fair 2008 attracted over 1000 visitors to this one-day community event. Based on past trends, it is expected that more than three quarters of the visitors will be beyond high school age. With changes to local employment dynamics and a critical shortage of people in the skilled trades, the job scene and opportunities are continually changing. Job Fair 2009 provides an opportunity for community members, local and regional employers and agencies to interact and to share ideas and strategies. This year with a wide variety of exhibitors and a large and centrally located venue we anticipate over 1100 visitors to Job Fair 2009.
The {{post id=”visitor-profile” text=”visitor profile”}} spans a broad range of ages and educational background. In 2008 three quarters of the visitors were over 19 years old, and more than half of these were between 20 and 40 years of age. Within each age group the educational background ranged from no grade 12 to completion of post-secondary degrees.
Visitor evaluations demonstrated that visitors have a variety of reasons for attending Job Fair, much more than simply ‘looking for a job’. Many of the visitors are looking for information on jobs and careers as well as training information corresponding to those positions. Others yet, are there to meet contacts for future employment; and some are merely there to see what organizations are participating in this well-known community event.
Job Fair 2009 is recognized as a great opportunity for face-to-face contact for both visitors and exhibitors. It provides an opportunity for community members, local and regional employers and agencies to interact. This one-day event allows visitors to meet with and ask questions of over 70 businesses and organizations that they may not otherwise have access to. A visitor last year commented, “After coming to Job Fair, I realized how long it would have taken me and how hard it would have been to talk to all of these people and apply to this many places had they not all been under one roof!”
Visitors to Job Fair may attend for a variety of reasons, but EVERYONE in our community has a reason to visit Job Fair 2009 - take advantage of this opportunity and be an exhibitor!
