March 2010
As our economy, local labour market and employment focus changes from year to year, as so should Job Fair.
Diane Schwartz-Williams of REACH Marketing and Business Services and Carol Leduc at the Academy for Technical Education are currently researching at new strategies, new locations, and new ideas for similar events in 2011 that will better meet the needs of Northwestern Ontario.
There is a chance that you may no longer see the recognizable “Job Fair” campaign, but rest assured that plans underway for similar opportunities locally (and possibly beyond!) that will continue to benefit employers, community agencies, budding entrepreneurs, and the unemployed alike.
The needs of the community are our guide, and your suggestions and comments are not only welcome, but essential to us in the planning stages of events in 2011. Please feel free to share your comments, ideas and any recommendations with us. We would be sincerely happy to hear from you.

PRESS RELEASE - Cancellation of Job Fair 2010
October 28, 2009
Historically delivery of the Job Fair has depended on a Labour Market Partnership (LMP) to cover over 70% of the project costs. Employment Ontario / Service Canada has always recognized the value of Job Fair to Northwestern Ontario, and all indicators from our local and regional offices were that the intent was to continue this sponsorship for Job Fair 2010. We have just recently been advised however that as a result of a province-wide decision effective October 9, 2009, funding of any new LMP‘s has been halted by the Provincial Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, including our proposal submitted in July 2009. As a result we are currently investigating other potential funding sources to see that this event continues in 2010.
We’ll keep you posted!
